Many people have disabilities, including visual or hearing impairments, which affect their ability to interact with your website. If you don't make an effort to accommodate them, they could start fighting back. Your website must be properly setup so it is accessible by everyone.

Good Business Sense

Don't you want to give everyone the ability to place orders on your website? Donate to your organization? Sign up for your mailing list? Not only is it the right thing to do, but it makes good business, or organizational, sense.

It's the Law

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities. Courts have ruled that websites are places of public accommodation and thus subject to ADA rules.  In fact, many people are now suing websites that do not comply with the ADA. 2,285 ADA website lawsuits were filed in federal courts in 2018. That's a yearly increase of 181%. Click on this video to learn more about this growing threat to your business.

In addition, Section 508 requires that federal websites be accessible to people with disabilities. Section 508 applies to federal websites and any website that is contracting with a federal agency or receiving federal funds.
