How do I secure my custom forms?

If you are going to use a Custom Form to collect medical information, social security numbers, and other personal information, you will need to be sure and transit all site information encrypted.

First, you will need an SSL certificate for your website. If your liveSite is hosted with us, you will need to be sure and have the Secure Hosting Upgrade, which comes with an SSL certificate and dedicated IP address. If you are a software customer, then you should purchase and install an SSL certificate.  If you need help with this, then please contact us in order to find out more information about our services.

Once your SSL certificate is installed, check "Secure Mode" in the Site Settings screen in liveSite, if it is not already checked.

Link your visitors securely to your form page (e.g. so that a lock icon appears in their browser window when they view your custom form.  The "s" in "https" is important because it enables encryption.

Update: You no longer have to link to your pages and forms manually with livesite v8.6. All links are automatically forced into secure mode if Secure Mode is enabled.
