A favicon, also known as a website icon, page icon or url icon, is an icon associated with your webpage. Browsers that support favicons display them in the browser's URL bar, next to the site's name within the lists of bookmarks, and next to the page's title.
With version 8+, all you have to do is upload a favicon.ico file as a Design File. liveSite will take care of everything else for you. If you are using a version before v8, then see info below.
If you have access to FTP to your web root, then you can simply prepare the favicon.ico file on your computer and then FTP it to the web root. Browsers will automatically try to find the favicon.ico file in the web root, so it is not necessary to reference it in your Page Styles.

Most browsers support the .ico file format for use with favicons, however some browsers also support other formats such as .gif and .png.
